Updated Odds on UFC 189 With Aldo Departure: Mendes vs. McGregor

(Gambling911.com Sports Wire) - Former two-time title contender Chad Mendes step into Jose Aldo's place and fight Conor McGregor (17-2) for the interim featherweight title at UFC 189.  Oddsmakers initially had the original UFC 189 Main Event at near EVEN odds.  The odds haven’t changed much as McGregor was now listed at -138 and Mendes +118, demonstrating that this should still be a competitive bout.

Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion, withdrew from UF 189 due to a rib injury.

"Aldo's rib is too painful and he will not be fighting," UFC President Dana White said. "Chad Mendes will fight Conor McGregor for the interim belt. It's (Aldo's) decision. I don't feel great about it. We've spent a lot of money promoting this fight and a lot of people were excited. It's definitely disappointing."
