Quinton Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida

The lovely ladies of BetUS.com are back to offer their pick on the UFC 123 Main Event featuring Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida.

This is obviously a bounce back fight for Machida, who lost his coveted championship belt to Shogun Rua in his last effort. As Katie and Christiane point out, there’s much more on the line for Rampage than the purse. Check out the video now to see what they have to say!

Rampage busted in to the UFC ranks and immediately stormed through Chuck Liddell and Dan Henderson while winning the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Fans loved him, and his natural ferocity and charisma made him one of the biggest names in sports for a time. After all, the chain he wore around his neck IS A FREAKING CHAIN.

Since losing his light heavyweight belt, however, Rampage has irked many fans over the years. He left the sport to film the blockbuster movie The A-Team, which in and of itself isn’t a terrible thing. I mean, who doesn’t want to be in a movie these days? Getting paid to act is way better than getting paid to be punched in the face over and over in front of a crowd of people.

What pissed off fans is that Rampage stated that he preferred making movies to fighting, a fact that Christiane and Katie point in their UFC 123 main event betting pick breakdown. It’s that typical “don’t shoot and piss on the horse you rode in on” thing.

Let’s also face the fact that Rampage isn’t Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson either, who is truly a one-of-a-kind, cross promotional star that rarely comes by in a generation. Rampage is and always will be a fighter. Fans embraced him as one, even if he hasn’t totally embraced that identity for himself.

Vindication will be hard to come by for Jackson who is the first obstacle in Lyoto Machida’s path back to glory. Both of the beauties from MMA Candy predict that Machida will win back money for his fight fans as a -275 favorite.

This could very well be the last time we see Rampage in the octagon. As billable as he is as a main event draw, he’s losing fans by the truck load. While some fight fans love seeing the snot beat out of a public villain, most guys don’t walk away from fighting the way Rampage has. All the guys we hate are fighters to the core…except for him.

Couldn’t he have just said, “I’m just checking this movie thing out, but the UFC and mixed martial arts will always be my top priority”? Wouldn’t that have been easier?
