Super Bowl Wagering

No one gave the Cardinals a chance to make the 2009 NFL Playoffs at the beginning of the season and that trend seems to be continuing now that the Super Bowl Wagering Lines have been released.  Despite dominating every team they encountered in the post season, Sportsbook.com has the Pittsburgh Steelers listed as 7 point favorites against the Arizona Cardinals.

"Both quarterbacks have won a Super Bowl before, so the leaders of the two offenses will act poised under the pressure of playing in the spotlight of the entire world," stated Sports-Odds.com NFL Picks Expert Martin Bishop when asked to comment on the sports odds for the Steelers vs Cardinals match-up. "I expect the Cardinals to give the Steelers a run so would recommend taking the points now.  If you wait until game day, the wagering lines could move against you if you don't bet early."

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger rode the back of his defense into the Motor City to a 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. Roethlisberger had one of the worst passing games of his career completing just 9 of 21 passes for 123 yards and two interceptions and his passer rating of 22.6 was the lowest in Super Bowl history by a winning quarterback.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was the Super Bowl XXXIV MVP after his Saint Louis Rams squad beat the Tennessee Titans 23-16 at the Georgia Dome. Warner completed 24 out of 45 passes for 414 yards and 2 touchdowns and became the sixth player to win both the NFL MVP Award and the Super Bowl MVP award during the same season following legends such as Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Emmitt Smith and Steve Young.

The Steelers vs Cardinals TOTAL is set at 46.5 points down from its opening number of 47.  Bishop went on to say this about the Super Bowl wagering lines on the TOTAL: "The professional sports bettors took the total down half a point already making this a low scoring down which typically favors the underdog."

Super Bowl XLIII is on February 1, 2009 with kickoff at 6:20 PM Eastern Time (23:20 GMT) liver from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Bet on the Super Bowl at Sportsbook.com.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
