NEW YORK (March 31, 2021): The Professional Fighters League (PFL), the fastest growing and most innovative sports league, in partnership with fintech blockchain company Chiliz, has become the first sports league in the world to launch a Fan Token to increase engagement with their global fanbase.

$PFL Fan Tokens are collectible digital assets, minted on the Chiliz blockchain, that provide owners with access to voting rights in polls, VIP rewards, exclusive league and sponsor promotions, AR-enabled features, chat forums, games and competitions on Chiliz’ fan engagement and rewards mobile app Socios.com.

$PFL Fan Tokens are now on sale on Socios.com, priced at $2.

The PFL will break new ground in fan engagement when they launch their first poll “The People's Main Event” on the Socios.com app on April 9th, with $PFL holders to be asked to vote on which fight will headline the main card at PFL 1 when the regular season resumes on April 23rd. The event, which will take place at Ocean Casino Resort Atlantic City, will be broadcast live primetime on ESPN2/ESPN+ in the US and beamed to 160+ countries around the world.

$PFL holders will be able to participate in various polls, giveaways and new product drops over the course of the PFL’s Regular Season, Playoffs, and Championship on Socios.com, including the chance to award fighter bonuses and win signed gear and merch from PFL MMA fighters including Anthony Pettis, Fabrício Werdum, Rory MacDonald and Kayla Harrison. The global partnership with the PFL also provides Socios.com with rights to use PFL logos and branding for advertising and promotional usage. Socios.com logos will be featured in and around the cage and arena.

The PFL are also the first US based organization to launch a Fan Token and join 24 major sporting organizations on the Socios.com platform, including the likes of FC Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City.

Chiliz has major global expansion plans for 2021 and will increase their existing presence in Europe while targeting many more Fan Token launches in the UK, Asia and South America. Chiliz also recently announced a $50M expansion into the US to target launches with the 5 major US sports leagues.

Pete Murray, CEO of the PFL said: “As the first US based league to offer Fan Tokens and the sports league that continues to innovate with new technology, we’re excited to launch PFL Fan Tokens with Socios.com and provide the 550 million MMA fans worldwide with engagement opportunities with the PFL, our fighters, and the action during our 2021 season.”

Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz and Socios.com said: “The PFL are renowned as the most innovative sports league in the world and they’ve just doubled down on that reputation by launching Fan Tokens to increase engagement with their rapidly growing global following.

“The first poll, giving $PFL owners the chance to choose the headlining fight when the regular season resumes on April 23rd, shows just how serious PFL are about giving their fans real influence.

“Fans can look forward to many more outstanding opportunities to connect with PFL in the future on Socios.com, too.

“The $PFL launch is the perfect start to our US expansion and we look forward to launching more Fan Token partnerships with other partners here in the future.”
