Oscar De La Hoya

Saturday night's fight between golden boy Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao was already enjoying heavy betting by midweek.  Betting odds on Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao were listed between -180 for the favorite De La Hoya (at BetUS.com) and +160 for Pacquiao (found at BetCRIS.com).

"From a betting perspective, this is a bout that will enjoy great success for bookmakers," points out Gambling911.com's Dan Shapiro.  "This is considered a relatively even matchup and with that we'll see the money pouring in."

Eric Williams of BetUS.com had this prediction:

"I'm going to keep it real for my beloved BetUS boxing bettors and admit that I don't even think it's fair that De La Hoya is being allowed to fight the much smaller Pacquiao.

"Pacquiao started out boxing at just 106 pounds, reaching a high of his current, optimal fighting weight of 135 pounds, not long ago.

"However, Pacquiao has been forced to put on an additional 12 pounds just in order to be able to meet De La Hoya at a weight the bigger, naturally heavier boxer has fought at earlier in his career.

"While De La Hoya has alternated wins and losses over each of his last seven fights, I can emphatically state De La Hoya will put that alarming trend to and end on Saturday with an emphatic disposal of Pacquiao.

"I absolutely love Pacquiao's ability, courage and heart, and he may even be a better fighter than De La Hoya at this point in their respective careers, but I think he goes down hard in this contest against De La Hoya, simply because of the weight and height factors."

And as we pointed out already, BetUS.com has the best odds available on De La Hoya.

Williams is not the only one who believes De La Hoya has the strong advantage here. Renowned trainer Angelo Dundee believes Oscar De La Hoya has the perfect style to beat WBC lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao in their highly anticipated welterweight clash on Saturday.

He told reporters Thursday: "We found out stuff he can do against Pacquiao. Exactly what we did, that's our business, and you'll see on Saturday night.

"There are certain things you can do in a fight. Like when Ray Leonard fought Marvin Hagler (in 1987), I noticed that every time Hagler stepped forward, he would punch.

"So I said to Ray Leonard, when he steps, take a move, so he can't punch. Manny Pacquiao does things like that. And we know what he does."

This is going to be a great bout and it's going to be among the most bet on events of the weekend, rivaling much of the NFL and College Football games.

Gambling911.com has continuing coverage on this fight.
