Los Angeles Kings No Lock to Make the Playoffs

Most people think that the Kings are going to get going and make the playoffs but I am not so sure. The team has yet to look like defending Stanley Cup champs. They don’t do anything that well and they rarely win on the road. The team is scoring just 2.7 goals per game and they are allowing 2.6 goals per contest. Those numbers are not good enough in a loaded Western Conference. It is looking like the team will have to catch Vancouver or Calgary to finish third in the division and there is no guarantee that is going to happen. The Kings have been miserable on the road and it’s hard to see them winning in Tampa.

Tampa Bay Lightning 21-5 at Home

The Lightning have been outstanding this season at home with 21 wins and just 5 losses. The team is leading the league in goals per game at 3.2 per contest and they have also been solid on defense as they allow 2.5 goals per game. The team has been going under the total at home with 16 games going under and 10 going over the hockey betting total. They will be a solid home favorite in this contest on Saturday.

Defense a Concern for the New York Islanders

The Islanders are still winning games but their defense is a big concern as they are now 23rd in the league in goals allowed per game at 2.8. The Islanders are scoring 3.1 goals per game which is 4th best in the league but there are some real concerns the offense is going to slip without the injured Kyle Okposo. And if the offense slows down this team is not going to win games unless the defense makes some big improvements. Surprisingly, the team has not been that great to bet over the NHL betting total at the sportsbook with 25 games going over, 23 going under with one push. The Islanders were 15-12 in their first 27 road games this season.

Boston Bruins 16-11 at Home

The Bruins have played really well in recent weeks and they are now firmly in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They now have their sights set higher as they look to catch Detroit, Tampa Bay and Montreal in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins are winning with defense as they allow just 2.4 goals per game which is 4th best in the league. The offense has also picked up as they are now scoring 2.6 goals per contest. The Bruins have gone under the hockey betting total 14 times, under 10 times with 3 games landing on the number at home.
