Jim Furyk had 2009 US Open payout odds that differed substantially across the board.  For example, Great Britain bookie Sportingbet.com offered Furyk as the third favorite after Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.  There he pays 16/1, better than Geoff Ogilvy.  On the other hand, SBG Global would offer a payout of $2500 for every $100 bet on Furyk.

Ogilvy, an American professional golfer, reached a career high of second in the Official World Golf Rankings in September 2006.  He has ranked in the top-10 for over 270 weeks between 1999 and 2008.

Furyk won the 2003 US Open.

Furyk was among many players who struggled on the brutally long Bethpage Black layout for the 2002 U.S. Open but he has adopted a positive approach for next week's edition at the same venue.

Although the par-70 Black Course will play more than 200 yards longer at 7,426 yards than it did seven years ago, Furyk expects a much fairer set-up for the second major of the year.

"I'm going in with a positive attitude because I know it's going to be set up different," the 2003 U.S. Open champion said. "I'm going to like the way it's set up. I've liked the (Open) setups the last three years."

American Furyk missed the cut at Bethpage in 2002 when the course played 7,214 yards off the back tees, making it then the longest U.S. Open layout of all time.

"It was a power-dominated U.S. Open, which is very rare when you think about the history," the 39-year-old recalled.

"Not being a power-oriented guy, I'm not going to sit here and whine about it because I think the U.S. Open is more down my alley most times than not.

"So if it isn't one year, I'm not going to be upset about it. I didn't play well last time, which is my fault because I didn't execute."

Furyk certainly has value paying upwards of $2500 for every $100 bet.  There is even greater value at SBG Global when one considers they are offering up to 295 percent in free bonus money

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
