Gisele Bundchen and the New England Patriots Odds

Gisele Bundche

Congratulations to injured New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.  He is set to marry supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen after a Christmas Eve proposal while his team is set to make yet another playoffs run....without him.

The Brazilian beauty said "YES" to Brady aboard a private jet adorned with roses and filled with champagne.

Star magazine reported last week the obnoxiously attractive couple plan to tie the knot in Costa Rica, where Bundchen has a vacation home.  So maybe Tom can place a bet on his team while down there since Costa Rica is home to more online sportsbooks than any other country in the world.  Of course, he would never be welcome back to the NFL if the league were to find out.

Who needs him though?  If you listen to commentators drool over his replacement quarterback, Matt Cassel, you would think that Tom Brady should just retire down in Costa Rica.

Well, that ain't happening.  Brady is one of the best - if not THE best - quarterbacks in the league and there is little doubt the Patriots (who are 10-5) will be welcoming him back with open arms next season.  Cassel will be a hot commodity (much like Gisele Bundchen) in someone else's home.

With all of this said, the Patriots may miss out on the Playoffs if they can't manage a win over Buffalo on the road.

They need more than that.

In addition to a win in Buffalo, New England's entry into the Playoffs requires a loss by the Miami Dolphins Sunday against a Jets team that seems to be falling apart in past weeks.  There is some reason for optimism here as the Jets have gone 8-2 over the Dolphins over the last 10 games including the last 5.  Sure Miami has improved dramatically this season but so too have the Jets.

Another less likely scenario that gets New England into the Playoffs is a Jacksonville win against Baltimore this weekend.

Anything is possible, however, as the Patriots nearly found themselves eliminated from the Playoffs had it not been for the Jets improbable loss in Seattle last week.

The focus for the Pats will be a win in Buffalo Sunday.

"I think, rather than being a fan here and a cheerleader, the best thing we can do is go out there and play good football on Sunday in Buffalo," Coach Bill Belichick said. "Without that, nothing else will matter."

The sports betting public is all over the Patriots this weekend.  They are the most bet on team at Bookmaker.com where the line Saturday morning was still at New England -5 ½ compared to the -6 and -7 found elsewhere.  (note:  you can get Buffalo at +7 at betED.com and hope for a Patriots 6 point victory to win both sides of the bet).

Considering that the Patriots have won their last 10 games against Buffalo, Gambling911.com says GO WITH THE PATRIOTS AS -5 ½ FAVORITES.  They squashed Arizona as the PLAY OF THE MILLENIUM last weekend.

This is still a good bet even though the Patriots are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win.  They are also 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games as a road favorite of 3.5 to 10.0.  The Bills are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AFC East and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win.
