Tonight's free NHL hockey pick is UNDER on Carolina vs. Ottawa.  Playing in home games after 2 days rest, the UNDER for Ottawa is 10-0.  The UNDER is 5 ½ at is SBG Global.

With Camon Ward allowing six goals on 42 shots in the last two games, Maurice may give backup Michael Leighton his first start since Dec. 23. He made 18 saves in relief Saturday and turned aside 22 shots in a 2-1 victory over Ottawa on Nov. 7.

Carolina has not lost three straight since Nov. 23-26, and is 9-6-3 since Maurice took over for the fired Peter Laviolette on Dec. 3.

......Two Original Six foes will meet for the first time since late November as Boston hosts Montreal on Tuesday night.  The Bruins defeated the Habs twice in November but the Canadiens are playing much better than they were back then. The Habs are 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.  They have scored 23 goals during their current four-game winning streak. "We're where we want to be, I think," Montreal's Tomas Plekanec said, "It's not easy to play with high expectations. We didn't have that before so that's been kind of different for us this season."  The Canadiens are 10 points behind Boston with a game in hand heading into Tuesday's game. "A great challenge for us," Plekanec said. SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking  Bruins at Home.

Boston is coming off a 5-1 win over Carolina on Saturday as David Krejci had a goal and two assists.  He was bypassed for the All-Star team and is making other teams pay. "We make too much about All-Star selections," said Bruins coach Claude Julien, "Not being on the team is one thing, but the fact that everybody is talking about him not being on the team speaks for itself."

Boston has been very tough at home this season, losing just four times but Montreal has been a very good home team, winning 11 times.  That number is tied for third best in the league.

Here are the Hockey betting stats for Tuesday's game. The Canadiens are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Canadiens are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. the Northeast. The Canadiens are 4-1 in their last 5 road games. The Canadiens are 15-4 in their last 19 Tuesday games.

The Bruins are 23-4 in their last 27 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Bruins are 8-2 in their last 10 vs. the Northeast. The Bruins are 20-6 in their last 26 home games. The home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.

The Over is 4-0 in the Canadiens last 4 overall. The Under is 9-2 in the Canadiens last 11 road games.

SBG Global Current Line: Bruins -  170  ,  Total  5.5 Under - 115

The Over is 13-3-2 in the Bruins last 18 home games. The Over is 8-3-2 in the Bruins last 13 overall. The Over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams and the Over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Boston.
