Dustin Johnson Pulls Away as Favorite to Win The Open 2016
Dustin Johnson was now the +550 favorite to win The Open Championship 2016 this week with a payout potential of $550 for every $100 bet or $55 for every $10 bet.
“I think that now that he got out of his own way and broke through and won the U.S. Open … it’s hard to see him not being the favorite moving forward for the next multiple majors – if not multiple years,” said the 2001 British Open champ and a Golf Channel commentator, David Duval, of the American golfer.
Jason Day had been the co-favorite coming into this week at 7-1 followed by the usual suspects of Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, both at 9-1 odds.
For his part, Day has turned to Tiger Woods for advise on how to win this week’s Open Championship.
"For so long he was the best player never to win a Major and then suddenly after winning one he started picking up a bunch of them", the Australian golfer said. “That's what I'm shooting for, to be able to finish off like he did back in the day. Will I ever get to a point like that? "Maybe not. But that's what I'm shooting for right now".
