Oscar De La Hoya

It's official.  Gambling911.com can report that the frenzy of gamblers betting on the Oscar De La Hoya - Manny Pacquiao fight is more so than either of the two big college football games of the day on Saturday.  Even Alabama vs. Florida was being outstaged by De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao.

"The amount of traffic and inquiries related to this fight throughout the day has been quite impressive," expressed Gambling911.com Senior Editor, Payton O'Brien.

No it's not the Super Bowl or the Kentucky Derby, but sportsbooks will make out big, enough to supplement the regular college football and NFL betting taking place over the course of this weekend.

"Because this is such a closely matched fight where oddsmakers are concerned we will be seeing some heavy bets placed on both sides," O'Brien explains.  "Either fighter can win.  It's going to be one for the ages."

At the current pace, the De La Hoya - Pacquiao fight looks like it will be the most bet on of the year, certainly among the top 3.  This includes Mixed Martial Arts events.

Sportsinteraction.com had dropped odds on Oscar De La Hoya down to -167 by Saturday evening while the best odds on Manny Pacquiao could be found at Bookmaker.com (+165), and that was up since earlier (the payout would be $167 for every $100 bet).

But the real value could be had at Sportingbet.com, which has defied earlier forecasts by raising Pacquiao's odds from +180 to +187.  The payout would be $187 for every $100 bet and these were the best odds we could find anywhere.  While Sportingbet welcomes punters from just about anywhere in the world, they do take bets from US citizens.  Bummer!!!!

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
