Dance With Fate Odds to Win 2014 Kentucky Derby: Dirt Track May Seal His Fate

The odds of Dance With Fate to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby were set at 20-1 at AceSportsBook.com.

Dance With Fate won the Blue Grass but the drawback here is that he did not perform well in two previous dirt races.  This will be his third dirt race and there are some serious doubts as to whether Dance With Fate can succeed at Churchill Downs.

"He's earned his way here, that's half of it," said Corey Nakatani, who will ride Dance With Fate for the second time. "The other part is, I like his running style. He's showing me he's got the credentials to win the race.

"Hopefully, his energy level stays the way it is. Traveling didn't seem to bother him, and I'm pretty confident in his ability to go out there and give his best. That's what we're looking forward to."

Trainer Peter Eurton isn't worried about his horse's transition to dirt, telling USA Today that he relished the slop on Wednesday. And he believes Dance With Fate is eager to build on the momentous win at the Blue Grass.

"I believe there are horses for courses, that old saying goes," Eurton said. "But he's amazingly aggressive and nothing really bothers him. I didn't think there'd be a big process of him getting used to it.

"I just hoped he liked it like other tracks we've shipped him to. I don't think he'll have a problem."
