The Duke Blue Devils and Southern Illinois Salukis will meet in the semifinals of the 2008 2k Sports Classic on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in New York in a game televised by ESPN 2.  Duke leads the all-time series against Southern Illinois 2-1 and has won the last two meetings in the series.  Duke comes into Thursday's game ranked 10th in the AP poll and fifth in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll. Duke advanced into the semifinals of this tournament with a hard fought 82-79 win over Rhode Island on Sunday. Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler combined for 44 points in the win over Rhode Island.  Southern Illinois has just two starters returning from last season but they were able to advance to the semifinals with wins over California (Pa.) and Massachusetts. The Salukis scored 52 points in the second half in their win over UMass. Carlton Fay led the Salukis in those victories, averaging 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Salukis are 4-1 all-time playing at Madison Square Garden.

Duke is 15-6 under Mike Krzyzewski at Madison Square Garden.  Duke is 106-16 all-time in the month of November, including a 92-10 mark under Coach K. The Blue Devils have won 12 straight games in November. Duke is 5-2 all-time against teams currently in the Missouri Valley Conference.
