Capitals vs. Rangers Betting Odds – Game 7 NHL Playoffs

Game 7 between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers is here as one team looks to advance to the Conference Finals after winning two straight 7-game series.

Belmont line and Total: Washington (+120)/ NY (-140) – Total set at 4.5

Well after 10-straight elimination games across this year’s NHL playoffs finishing with four goals or fewer, odds makers have put this total down to 4.5 but the under is still dogged at +115. This series has yet to see a game finish with more than 5 total goals so the under does look like a good play.

But as far as who goes on to play the Devils, I believe you have to like the Caps here. They have played two great games in this building the last two times and if you ignore that 2 minutes of devastation in Game 5, Washington should have already won this series. Young Braden Holtby won’t be intimidated one bit after going into Boston and knocking off the defending champion’s last round, so counting on him to collapse would be erroneous.

The Caps will also have that “free and easy” feeling for this game coming in as the underdogs and lower seeded team. The memories of the Game 5 collapse have faded with that Game 6 win and they are 12-5 SU when their opponent scored two or fewer last time out. Not being able to string together two straight wins in this series has got to be a bit troublesome for Washington, but at the same time, New York hasn’t won two straight either, so there are plenty of inconsistencies in their game as well.

New York battled all year to get home ice for a game like this and while they took advantage of it against Ottawa, Washington is clearly a deeper, more talented team playing better hockey at the moment. Game 7’s have a lot of crazy stuff happen in them and it is tough not to take the value with underdogs.

Take Washington.
