At 1-16 odds, Blatter was a practical “lock” to continue serving as President.

Seven FIFA officials including vice-president Jeffrey Webb were arrested Thursday by Swiss authorities following a probe into bribery totaling more than $150m by the U.S. Justice Department.

The vote takes place during the FIFA Congress on May 29. (Reporting by Mike Collett; Editing by Douglas Beattie)

Odds offered at British bookmakers were as follows:

1/16 Sepp Blatter Switzerland

12/1 Luis Figo Portugal

16/1 Michael van Praag Netherlands

20/1 Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein Jordan
