ATP French Open 2012: Novack Djokovic vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Betting Odds

Bookmaker was offering ATP French Open 2012 betting odds on two matches featuring Novack Djokovic vs. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Roger Federer vs. Juan Martin Del Potro.  All French Open 2012 online wagering can be found here

Tsonga would pay 4/1 odds or $40 for every $10 bet with an upset against Djokovic.

There’s reason to believe this could happen.  At least the value is there for the gambling public.

Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times wrote of this upcoming matchup:

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga survived a surprisingly emotional four-game resumption of his fourth-round match against Stanislas Wawrinka on Monday, despite a hiccup in which he gave away the lead with which he began the day.

The win put Tsonga into his first quarterfinal in Paris, which made him the first Frenchman to have reached the quarterfinals of all four Grand Slams in the Open Era. That milestone, and the emotional drain of the win that got him there, may leave Tsonga ill-equipped to reset in time to face Djokovic, the World No. 1, the very next day.

Djokovic hardly looked like a man who had won the last three Grand Slams when he lost his first two sets to Andreas Seppi on Sunday, but the inevitable feeling to his comeback speaks volumes of the power with which reputation plays in this era of men’s tennis. The increasingly slow conditions should also serve to negate much of Tsonga’s explosive power, which might already be diminished by his short turnaround between matches.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
