NFL Power Rankings

Gambling911.com has released its 2008 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings along with odds for each of the top teams and changes from last week courtesy of SBG Global. The number in (parentheses) is last week's ranking.

Among the big movers this week in the right direction were the Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals, even though the Cardinals (at 19 this week) are still suspect in our opinion.

The St. Louis Rams remain at the bottom of the barrel for the second straight week.

----

1. (1) Dallas Cowboys - Ladies and gentlemen, we present the most explosive offense in the NFL. Romo, T.O., Barber, Witten, Felix -- plus a gi-normous offensive line that kept Tony Romo from being sacked by the blitz-happy Eagles - From Fox Sports. And they are right. They still have great value too. A $100 bet for the Cowboys to win the 2008 Super Bowl pays out $450 at SBG Global

2. (3) New York Giants - The reigning Super Bowl champions are playing like the reigning Super Bowl champions. Even though they beat up on what could be considered the worst team in the NFL - the St. Louis Rams, the Giants looked very good doing it. Oddsmakers still don't give the Giants enough credit. They were listed with +1400 odds at SBG Global to win the 2009 Super Bowl, a payout potential of $1400 for every $100 bet. Two teams in the same division rank at the top of the 2008 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings. That says a lot about this very tough division. And The Eagles are not far behind either.

3. (2) New England Patriots - We said it last week, this team without Tom Brady is still better than most of the NFL. The Gambling911.com Power Rankings have the Patriots only a few percentage points under the Giants in fact. The Patriots would pay out $1200 for every $100 bet if they win the 2009 Super Bowl. They should be 3-0 after playing this Dolphins this coming weekend.

4. (5) Indianapolis Colts - Still listed among the favorites to win the Super Bowl this year with odds of +500 or 5/1. Props to Indy for one of their "toughest" wins of the Tony Dungy era, Fox Sports says. Riddled with injuries along their offensive line, facing the NFL's best run defense, the NFL's most exciting young running back and trailing 15-0 in the second half, Peyton Manning willed his team back to avoid an 0-2 start. They will be up against what is supposed to be a solid Jacksonville team that will not want to start of the season 0-3.

5. (4) Pittsburgh Steelers - They are 2-0 but failed to cover against the Cleveland Browns this past weekend. Now it's time for Pittsburgh to prove it's one of the elite teams in the NFL with another big road game against Philadelphia, ESPN.com says. Should it happen, they should climb the Gambling911.com rankings further.

6. (6) Philadelphia Eagles - They may have lost on the road in Dallas but the Eagles did cover and they still looked impressive nonetheless. The loss keeps Philadelphia's odds of winning the 2009 Super Bowl at great value: +1400 or 14/1 at SBG Global

7. (9) Green Bay Packers - While the Packers almost lost it last week against the Detroit Lions after holding a very comfortable lead, they still won. Three first-half touchdown passes in Week 2 allowed Packer management to finally exhale after trading Brett Favre this summer, says Fox Sports. They would pay $1300 for every $100 bet if they were to win the 2009 Super Bowl.

8. (7) San Diego Chargers - They may be 0-2 to start the season but a lot of people believe they had one stolen from them in Denver last week. This team is still the darling of odds makers with +550 odds to win the Super Bowl.

9. (11) Denver Broncos - The Broncos might have been fortunate to beat San Diego, but there is nothing lucky about Denver's offense. It is a scoring machine, says ESPN.com. They pay 25/1 odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl at press time September 17, 2008.

10. (13) Carolina Panthers - This team could move up the rankings quickly. Fox Sports has them at #4 and ESPN.com has this team at #8. The odds makers have Carolina with 20 to 1 odds of winning the 2009 Super Bowl. We love those odds.

11 (12) Tennessee Titans
12 (14) Buffalo Bills
13 (8) Chicago Bears
14 (10) Jacksonville Jaguars
15 (18) Washington Redskins
16 (16) New Orleans Saints
17 (17) Minnesota Vikings
18 (15) New York Jets
19 (27) Arizona Cardinals
20 (19) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
21 (20) Baltimore Ravens
22 (22) Seattle Seahawks
23 (21) Atlanta Falcons
24 (23) Cleveland Browns
25 (26) Houston Texans
26 (30) Oakland Raiders
27 (24) Cincinnati Bengals
28 (31) San Francisco 49ers
29 (25) Miami Dolphins

30 (29) Kansas City Chiefs
31 (28) Detroit Lions

32 (31) St. Louis Rams
