NFL Power Rankings

Carrie Stroup here! Gambling911.com has released its 2008 Week 12 NFL Power Rankings along with odds for each of the top teams and changes from last week courtesy of Sportsbook.com, which was offering future betting odds on teams chances to win the 2009 Super Bowl.

Right now the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans are practically tied for the number one spot but by virtue of Tennessee's undefeated record, they remain atop of the rankings.

The number in (parentheses) is last week's ranking. Below we also list all NFL teams odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl so scroll down to find updated odds on your favorite team and lock them in now at Sportsbook.com to ensure you get them at the best possible payout number.

1.     Tennessee Titans (1) - They are still listed with +500 odds at Sportsbook.com after three weeks!  That's a $500 payout on every $100 bet if they win!  Wow!  It amazes me these odds remain so long all things considered.

2.     New York Giants (2) - This is a good value regardless.  Their odds were slashed a mere half point from +250 to +200 this week or 2/1 for a payout potential of $200 for every $100 bet.  This is a team this is looking more and more like it could repeat last year's stunning Super Bowl win.

3.     Pittsburgh Steelers (4) - From Fox Sports: Despite a dinged wing that he was clearly protecting, Ben Roethlisberger is playing through the pain well enough. Still, it's a big concern around Steeltown that the normally big-armed QB has not tried throwing deep for two games in a row.  The online bookmakers also believe that Pittsburgh has a solid chance of winning another Super Bowl as they are one of only three teams with single digit odds.  In the Steelers case, they had odds of +700 for a payout potential of $700 on every $100 bet.

4.     Carolina Panthers (3) - They switch off with the Steelers this week.  The payout potential is $1000 for every $100 bet, which remains unchanged from last week.

5.     New York Jets (6) - The Jets move a notch closer to the top with their impressive 7-3 record.  As good as they are, the oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com reduced their odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl from +1000 to +1500 for a $1500 payout potential with every $100 bet.

6.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7) Odd were +2000.  This team is meeting plenty of challenges injury-wise and once again they have to deal with the loss of the Bucs' leading rusher Earnest Graham for the remainder of the season, forcing veteran Warrick Dunn and Cadillac Williams into the RB spotlight, with Williams fresh off injured reserve and seeking his first action in more than a year.

7.    Washington Redskins (5) - Oddsmakers drop odds from +1500 to +3000 but they are still playing well in a very solid division even if Philadelphia and Dallas appear questionable.

8.    Indianapolis Colts (13) They are regaining their stature just when it counts.  Oddsmakers have them paying $1500 for every $100 bet if they win the 2009 Super Bowl.

9.    Miami Dolphins (11) The team that only won a single game last season plays one of the softest schedules over the coming weeks and is one of the greatest surprises of 2008.  They would pay $3000 for every $100 bet with a Super Bowl win at Sportsbook.com

10.   Arizona Cardinals (14) They are suspect but keep winning and oddsmakers like them now with +1800 odds.

11. Atlanta Falcons (8)

12. Minnesota Vikings (17)

13.  Baltimore Ravens (9)

14.  New England Patriots (15)

15.  Philadelphia Eagles (12)

16.  Chicago Bears (10)

17.  Dallas Cowboys (18)

18.  Denver Broncos (19)

19.  Jacksonville Jaguars (20)

22.  San Diego Chargers (22)

24.  New Orleans Saints (23)

25.  Houston Texans (25)

26.  San Francisco 49ers (30)

27.  Seattle Seahawks (26)

28.  St. Louis Rams (27)

29.  Cincinnati Bengals (31)

30.  Oakland Raiders (29)

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
