2008 Week 1 College Football Odds
Aug 29 2008 - 9:15pm

Carrie Stroup here excited to kick off the new college football betting season and I'm thrilled to bring you the 2008 Week 1 College Football betting odds along with the betting trends for key games.

Memphis vs. Mississippi has nearly 97 percent of the action going towards the UNDER 54 at Super Book. This is after the line had to be taken down from 56. So expect this total line to move down even further by game time Saturday. We could see 52 or less when all is said and done. Nobody is taking the OVER here.

2008 Week 1 College Football betting odds have Wyoming getting 87 percent of the betting action, which has prompted odds makers at Super Book to move this line from -10 to -12 ½ in an effort to get more money on Ohio.

Likewise, Nebraska had 82 percent of the action with a line of -14 ½. That line is up from -13.

86 percent of bets were going towards Tulsa even though the line opened at -14.

Boston College had 93 percent of the action with a line of 9 ½ and what appeared to be a strong opinion on BC covering this line. This is evident by the nominal line move.

Alabama vs. Clemson should be one of the better games of the day Saturday with a line that moved from Clemson -6 to -4 ½ and now only a little more than 70 percent of action on Clemson.

Kentucky vs. Louisville was even with Louisville -3 ½. They opened at -5 ½.

USC was the most bet on team with a line of -19 ½ that had opened at -20 ½. And it appears to us that the odds makers are more than happy to get gamblers betting away on that USC line. More than 90 percent were on USC. It certainly appears that the odds makers at Super Bowl have a strong enough opinion that Virginia will cover this one. Nearly everyone was on the OVER 42.5, a line that also came down.

Michigan and Florida were the other two teams getting the most action coming into Saturday. Oddsmakers also seemed to have an opinion on Utah being able to cover since they moved the line on Michigan -4 to -3, encouraging even more action on the Wolverines.

Florida was a sick -34 ½ with 81 percent of the action and odds makers continued to move that line up to get more bets on Hawaii, an indication they like Florida even at thos enormous odds.
