The Eagles pulled off what some call the impossible at FedEx Field, they overcame a deficit and knocked the Redskins out in their opener, and Michael Vick looked about as good as can be with the air and the ground. LeSean McCoy also threw down 184 yards rushing which is impressive against the Redskins. Could they do it again though?
The Chargers fell apart against Houston. It was one of the worst examples of how you can have hubris to a fault. It’s one thing to be confident, but it’s not a game of 1 or 2 quarters, it’s 4 quarters of sweat, and even blood. San Diego learned just how stupid it is to let your guard down against any team in the NFL and the Texans made sure they remembered with a serious come back, one that will be written about for years to come. After leading 28 – 7, fans were tuning out, and when they returned, a win of 31 – 28 proved that no lead is safe if you don’t play through each and every down.
So what about this weekend? Who’s going to take the game? Look for Michael Vick to once again prove why he has an NFL contract, and watch the ground game mix up between his fast feet and LeSean McCoy rushing yet again. On the flipside, look for San Diego to make some moves on defense, as they had a handsome lesson to remember from the past week. No doubt the defense is going to be tighter, more disciplined, and for that, they are going to definitely shine, at least for a few quarters.
The Match Up:
Even with such an even handed way of looking at things, we’re going to see the score run up. It just is going to happen, look for a high scoring affair, with the winner coming through in the late stages of the fourth quarter. Someone is going to get tired, and fatigue brings about a lot of mistakes. We’re going with Philadelphia at – 7, Vick may in fact be in a season of proving grounds, and that’s why this one goes to the Eagles, with scores going over 54 easily.
