Super Bowl 51 is upon us, in what should be an epic game this Sunday.  The Patriots still favored 3 points by most books and the Total is at an all-time high in the history of Super Bowls at 58.5 to 59.  Looks like a shootout between Tom Brady and Matt Ryan, with abundant talent on both sides of the ball offensively, and then you throw in the NFL’s #1 scoring defense with New England and you may have a head scratcher for a pick in this game.  Two good head coaches, or should I say 1 great head coach and another head coach who has coached in this game as a coordinator more than once, and walked away with a ring.  Lots of story lines for sure and no doubt this biggest single game in sports betting each and every year.  With all the futures bets Vegas is holding on the Pats, sportsbooks in Vegas will be rooting for a Falcon victory but they hope to make a bunch if it up on prop bets because most recreational bettors just throw a ton of prop bets up and hope they stick.

That said, I will be in Las Vegas this weekend enjoying the big game and all the parties and betting fun surrounding it, and while in town I plan on doing plenty of legal wagering on my legal app with CG Technology instead of standing in long lines, and I suggest anyone in town do the same.  You will be scrolling through over 400 prop bets and may not see the forest because of all the trees, so I asked some of the expert and professional handicappers on my Tony George Sports website to throw out some solid prop bets for everyone and here they are.  Enjoy the game, and remember, what is worth watching, is also worth making some on!

Will there be a defensive or special teams TD?

No, -180

Don’t expect many turnovers. The Falcons and Patriots tied for the league low with only 11 giveaways each this year.  And the only special teams TD that either team scored all year was Dion Lewis’ kick return in the playoffs against the Texans.

LeGarrette Blount to score a TD in the 1st Half?

YES +160 at Westgate

Patriots are going to have to run the ball. They don't want to

get into a shoot-out with the Falcons offense. I think they lean on

Blount early and often and throughout the game!

Steve Merril

Will there be 3 straight scores from one team?

YES (-210)

This prop has a strong history of cashing in the Super Bowl.  In fact, a team has scored 3 straight times in 35 of the 50 Super Bowls (70%), including six of the last eight.  It did not happen last year, but that was a low scoring game between two of the best defenses in the league (Broncos/Panthers).  A complete opposite situation this year with two explosive offenses and the highest Over/Under total in Super Bowl history.

Marc Lawrence

Matt Ryan UNDER 320.5 Passing Yards (+101)

Bill Belichick's game plan will be to limit Matt Ryan’s ability as much as possible, likely with a nickel defense that stymied Jim Kelly and the Bills in Super Bowl 25. NFL MVP’s (expected to be Ryan this year) have struggled mightily in Super Bowls, going 0-6 SUATS the last six - including Cam Newton last year.

Doug Upstone (Vegasproinsidersdaily.com)

LaGarrette Blount Rushing Yards OVER 57.5 (-110)

Blount has rushed for 1,259 yards this season and is going up against an Atlanta defensive front that allows 4.6 yards a carry. I expect Blount to have a minimum of 70 yards rushing.

Jimmy Boyd

Mohamed Sanu Over 45.5 Receiving Yards (-135)

The Patriots are great at taking away an opponents strength.  That means they are going to try to take away Julio Jones. That’s going to create more opportunities for other guys and I believe Sanu (second on team in targets) will have a chance to take advantage.  He should get plenty of targets, which means there is some value with him getting to 46+ receiving yards.

Tony Karpinski

Odds on which team gets more sacks in the Super Bowl:

* New England: 4/5

Both of these teams had 34 sacks during the regular season, but Brady and the Pats like to throw short quick passes in which the Falcons won’t have time to put pressure on Brady.  Usually when he feels pressure he just throws the ball way.  I expect the Pats defense to get more sacks in the game.

Alex Smith

What Will Happen First, Falcons Score or Punt?

SCORE -115

The Falcons have the lowest 3-and-Out percentage in the NFL at 13.71% (24/175) this year, and have scored a Touchdown on their first drive in 8 straight games dating back to Week 12 of the Regular Season.

Tony George

Longest Reception my Falcons Julio Jones OVER 25.5 Yards (-110)

While New England is good at taking away the best WR for opposing teams, just look at WR Brown for the Steelers in their last game, I do not think they will shut down Jones totally.  While I think he will be limited in his usual targets and recpetions, I feel he is a game breaker type of player and sooner or later Ryan hits him for a big play down the field and I can see him easily getting some yards after the catch in that scenario.
