New Orleans was probably seeing the heaviest action in terms of both lopsidedness and overall volume. They were listed as a -3 road favorite and the books really have not been trying to get action on Atlanta by moving the line over that number 3. The Falcons definitely have some value here. On paper, this should be a much improved team over the dismal squad we witnessed last season. Prior to last season the Falcons were solid at home.
New Orleans may dominate Atlanta, going 13-3 Straight Up against them, but these Saints were also 1-7 Against The Spread last year.
Gotta go with the Falcons +3 in this one.
Elsewhere, New England at -4 was seeing probably the second heaviest action at just over 82%. Chicago was also seeing some decent action at just over 84% with a line of -6.5. Some books were taking in as much as 90% on the Bears though overall volume was less than with the New England and New Orleans games. Pittsburgh was seeing close to 80% of the action vs. Cleveland.
The betting public is correct when moving the money line in New Orleans games 29.6% of the time over the past 3 seasons. (8-19) This gives Atlanta an edge where the line movement is concerned.
