PartyPoker Borgata to Surpass Merge Poker Network by Mid January

Another sign of just how successful online poker in the state of New Jersey has become: PartyPoker Borgata is set to surpass Merge Gaming and the Chico Poker Network’s traffic in the US.

Both Merge and Chico operate offshore and accept customers from most US states.  PartyPoker Borgata has a little ways to go before catching up to surging Winning Poker Network (home to Americas Cardroom) and top 10 traffic site Bodog Poker.

PartyPoker Borgata’s traffic numbers are limited to those playing within the state of New Jersey. Many players from New York state are reportedly crossing the border to play in New Jersey as sites like Merge prohibit customers from the Empire State.

According to traffic monitoring website PokerScout.com, Party Poker Borgata’s 24 hour peak traffic over the weekend registered at 641 compared to 529 at Chico and 767 at Merge.

Merge is home to power player Sportsbook.com while Chico hosts another power player BetOnline.  Both Sportsbook.com and BetOnline focus more heavily on sports bettors however.

Party was one of two sites to get a head start launching in New Jersey, the other being UltimateGaming, which, according to PokerScout.com, has had some difficulties capturing the Jersey market.  Its 24-hour peak was a mere 44 people.

WSOP New Jersey, utilizing the 888.com platform and operated by Caesars, appeared to be gaining ground with nearly 350 peak players over this past weekend.
