Partouche Poker Tour Blames ‘External Media’ for Prize ‘Confusion’ but Will Hono

The Partouche Poker Tour has decided to honor its initial €5 million guarantee after quietly cutting the guarantee down by €750,000

Tour organizers had insisted that the €5 million guarantee never existed even though a Web time capsule shot of the site on Google Cache showed otherwise.

And while organizers have opted to move the prize guarantee back up to the original €5 million, they still refuse to admit this information was ever present on the Partouche site.

From HighStakesDB.com:

Despite a defiant speech a couple of days ago from Patrick Partouche during which he insisted that there had never been any guarantee of a minimum €5 million prize pool at the tour’s main event in Cannes, there has now been a climb down from the company and the €736,880 overlay will be honoured after all. In a written press release Partouche bizarrely blamed “disruption in the external media spreading confusion and erroneous information which may have led our players to be convinced of the existence of a guaranteed prize pool” rather than accept any blame attributable to the PPT, but at least players will now be getting the correct payouts. Devastating your company’s reputation first then paying out the money anyway seems like a strange way to do business, but each to their own.
