One Click of The Mouse - You Lose Your Blouse

Aug 3 2008 - 12:24am

Some of the more innovative advertisements have come to us from none other than online gambling websites, though much of them have been squashed since the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act in 2006.

Still, the online poker websites tend to advertise heavily even on more mainstream cable networks thanks to their ability to utilize the so-called "educational" .net extensions.

In November of 2006, exactly one month after the passage of UIGEA, BetUS.com released one of the more entertaining online poker adverts. That company has utilized the Cake Poker platform, though they really haven't promoted the poker room much in the past year. BetUS.com has always tended to be more of a sports book, and one of the top 5 largest North American facing brands in terms of overall volume.

BetUS.com offered us the "Strip Poker Girls" online ad, which to date has received close to 55,000 views and - assuming the average 5 percent customer conversion rate - 2750 new customers as a result of this ad. Even if we were to assume the low end conversion rate of say 1 percent, this ad would have reeled in some 500 plus new customers. That ad was banned from appearing on Gambling911.com even though BetUS.com was a sponsor due to its inappropriate adult content.

Thanks to the magic of YouTube, the video is now featured via that website and its age verification process.

"Some would argue it is a humorous ad," expressed Gambling911.com Operations Manager, Payton O'Brien. "We would classify it as ‘inappropriate'."

Strip poker itself is not widely accepted within the online poker community either despite the game's overwhelming popularity.

BetUS.com has become synonymous with the "BetUS.com Babes Calendar", which we would be remiss in failing to point out that a number of their "babes" have gone on to bigger and better things. Among them, Andrea Lowell, who would later appear on the Surreal Life.
