Negreanu: ‘I Don’t Think Atlantic City is the Place for the WPT Finale’

Outspoken poker pro Daniel Negreanu has made it clear that he believes this year’s World Poker Tour Finale should not be held in Atlantic City.

The reason:

We’re not entirely sure whether it is the city’s blight, lack of things to do or the lack of airline options, Negreanu doesn’t quite explain.

In an exclusive interview with NewJerseyCasinos.com, Negreau offered the following:

“I think it's a mistake. However, I understand why the WPT would do that. Because there involved with PartyPoker and Atlantic City is a market where you can play poker, so they were hoping to get a lot of people to qualify for the event by online.

“However, outside of that logic, I think this event is missing a lot of players because they don't want to travel to Atlantic City. In fairness, it wasn't doing well in Vegas anyway compared to previous years; however, having said that, I don't think this is the place for the WPT World Championship.”

Negreanu is the highest earner in the game of poker today.

The 2015 WPT Finale will feature a grand prize just shy of $1 million.  The event continues Tuesday at Noon Eastern Time.
