Full Tilt Poker Head Ray Bitar: ‘I’m Sorry’

In his first interview since Full Tilt Poker went belly up last summer owing countless numbers of customers millions of dollars, CEO Ray Bitar tells the poker world “I’m sorry”

Bitar, along with other Internet poker execs from three different companies, were indicted last April, charged with bank fraud and money laundering.

PokerStrategy.com noted that Bitar primarily wanted a platform to offer an apology as opposed to elaborating on what may or may not happen behind the scenes at Full Tilt Poker.

He insisted his priority is to get customers paid even though players residing in the US have been waiting for their funds for nearly a year now.

“My life has drastically changed since last April,” Bitar tells PokerStrategy.  “As a manager of Tiltware, I have been cooperating fully with the DOJ so they can complete their investigation. Beyond that, I spend a good deal of my time making sure that FTP survives and that the players get repaid. I know that these events have hurt a lot of innocent people and it’s my main job to make things right. I continue to work on these issues, day and night until we resolve them.”

He then offered his apology.

“I would like to offer my sincere apology to all who have been affected by these events and to clarify that my silence was not an attempt to “hide,” or “ignore,” the situation.”

It should be noted that rival PokerStars, also caught up in the indictments last April, did pay all customers within a month of the charges being filed.
