EPT Set to Break Qualifier Records for 100th Event in Barcelona

ONCHAN, Isle of Man – Moore than 230 players have already won seats to #EPT100 in Barcelona, the debut event of EPT Season 11. The historic 100th EPT kicks off mid-August and numbers already look set to beat last year’s EPT Barcelona Poker Festival record of 378 qualifiers.

Among those who have already secured full prize packages for this season’s event are a whole bunch of EPT champions including PokerStars-sponsored PCA winner Dominik Panka, Michael Tureniec, Ben Wilinofsky, Fred Jensen and Kent Lundmark. Others who have qualified online include Team PokerStars Pro Nacho Barbero, PokerStars Team Online’s Mickey Petersen and Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Jonathan Karamalikis.

More than 30 players a week have been winning seats to EPT Barcelona and, with the World Cup drawing to an end and the World Series of Poker now well underway, that number looks set to increase substantially over the coming weeks. There are now up to three satellites a day on PokerStars, with five satellites every Sunday – topping last season’s maximum of four a day. There are already more than 210 players qualified for Estrellas as well, with several players having won their seats to both the Estrellas and EPT Main Events.

#EPT100 is set to be one of the most spectacular poker tournaments ever held, marking a milestone in the history of the European Poker Tour. Joining forces with the national Estrellas Poker Tour once again, the EPT Barcelona Poker Festival will run August 16-27, 2014 and feature 44 events including the €1,100 Estrellas Main Event, the €5,300 EPT Main Event and the prestigious €50k Super High Roller.

Last season’s festival attracted a staggering 9,000 tournament entries in total, including 1,234 players for EPT Barcelona - which broke the record for that event - and 1,798 for the Estrellas Main Event.

EPT President Edgar Stuchly said: “EPT100 is set to be the biggest EPT we have ever held in Europe. Barcelona is always a very popular destination and we broke our own records last season, however this season’s event looks set to attract more players than ever before. We’re now looking forward to welcoming thousands of players and their guests to next month’s festival.”
