EPT Malta €10K High Roller Currently Under Way

More than 150 players are already in seats for the EPT Malta €10k High Roller, which started at 1pm today.

As expected, it is a star-studded field including a lot of poker heavyweights. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov is taking part after his runner-up finish in the €2k event yesterday. Katchalov made a heads-up deal with Stephen Chidwick to secure €92,400.

EPT champions Mike McDonald, Steve O'Dwyer, Dimitar Danchev, Benny Spindler, and Remi Castaignon are competing along with other notables such as Ole Schemion (who won the European Poker Awards Player of the Year trophy last night), Philipp Gruissem (also recognised at the Awards for his REG Charity Initiative), Olivier Busquet (EPT Barcelona €50k SHR champ), Thomas Muhlocker, Pratyush Buddiga, Patrick Leonard, Simon Deadman, Shyam Srinivasan, Mike Watson, Timothy Adams and others. Ihar Soika, Andrew Chen and Josip Simunic are in, and looking to snag their second Season 11 High Roller title.

Soika beat a massive 393-entry field in Barcelona to scoop €747,200 while Chen took down the EPT London High Roller for £394,200. Simunic earned €309,170 at EPT Deauville.

Although there was a special €25k High Roller at the beginning of the festival, the €10k is the official EPT High Roller, meaning that - in addition to their trophy and cash prize - the champion will receive a luxury watch from Swiss brand SLYDE, the Official EPT Season 11 sponsor for Main Events and High Rollers.

Season 11 EPT €10k High Rollers so far:Barcelona: 393 entries, €3,851,400 prize pool, Ihar Soika (Belarus) for €747,200
London: 173 entries, £1,695,400 prize pool, Andrew Chen (Canada) for £394,200
