EPT Berlin 2012 Kicks Off the 16th

We are just days away from the start of the EPT Berlin 2012.  This event is among the most memorable on the European Poker Tour following an armed robbery that took place during the final day in 2010.  Last year’s EPT Berlin was much more subdued with Ben Wilinofsky taking home the €825,000 after beating a 773-strong field.

PokerStars.com, which sponsors the event, noted that more than 170 players have already won their seats into this year’s event, which takes place April 16-21 at both the Grand Hyatt and the Spielbank Berlin.  The player field is anticipated to be higher than last year with the potential for a 1st place award over $1 million.  In fact, up to 1300 players can now participate as a result of an extension of the tournament area at the Grand Hyatt.

Steffen Stumpf, Director of the Spielbank Berlin said: “With the changes we combine the best of both worlds. More tournaments, more starting places and a clearly more convenient game situation for all participants. Last year we had some unfortunate bottlenecks at our tables. However, we also guarantee the highest safety standards, given that the entire cash flow will solely take place here at the Spielbank Berlin as last year."
