Doyle Brunson Annette Obrestad Fight

A public feud between one of poker's oldest players, Doyle Brunson, and one of its youngest, Annette Obrestad, has actually managed to attract more readers than most of Gambling911.com's extensive World Cup reports.

Sure our World Cup coverage for Saturday blew the roof of the site in terms of overall traffic, however, much of the readership was spread over a series of articles with only one exception.

Obrestad was recently quoted in an ESPN interview as saying that "Girls suck at playing poker" and that Doyle Brunson's "ego" would make him "easy to beat".

Brunson instructed his minions to visit Gambling911.com via his uber popular Twitter page to read Obrestad's comments.  While trending was good over the past 24 hours for both Doyle Brunson and Annette Obrestad related search (according to Gambling911.com's Facebook page), much of the traffic appeared to be from regular readers of the Gambling911 website and those referred by Doyle.  Most of the searches coming into the aforementioned articles were associated with the querie "Gambling911.com" as many of Brunson's readers typed the domain name into Google before visiting the Brunson-Obrestad articles (there are now a few due to the popularity of this brawl).

"Nobody should underestimate the influence of Doyle Brunson on the Net," said Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.  "His articles attract so much attention here.  He is a very popular read.  His online poker site is gaining traction every day."

"Must be a bad time of the month for Annette what's her name. By the way, I'm at Bobby's Room almost every day if she really wants to play," Brunson Tweeted.

He later apologized to "all women" for his "time of the month" comment applied to Obrestad.

Not that he should be the one apologizing to women across the globe as Obrestad is the one who made the outlandish statement that "girls suck at playing poker".

Brunson Tweeted on Saturday: "Does anyone really care who can beat who heads up? The real action is ring games and Bobby's room at the Bellagio is open every day."

The Brunson-Obrestad feud had readers taking sides.  Some issued personal attacks against both players

Obrestad has been nonresponsive though many of her fans have come to her defense.

One reader offered this:  "Annette's comments were naive, ignorant, and inappropriate, but for you bunch of assholes to go after her weight and looks just shows what failures you all are. when was the last time you commented on some male player's looks when you didn't like something he said? you're a bunch of nobodies with small penises and poker-success-envy. you'll never get anywhere in life and that's why you're all here trashing her looks. disgusting LOSERS btw, I'm on Doyle's side all the way,,,, has nothing to do with the comments about her looks."

For the record, Thomas Somach referred to Ms. Obrestad in his headline as "portly", which is defined as "comfortably stout".
