One member of the popular poker posting forum TwoPlusTwo.com drew comparisons to Doyle Brunson’s abrupt departure from the online poker room that bears his name.

“It's a bit like Ronald MacDonald leaving MacDonalds
“or Lebron James leaving Cleveland....oh, I'm a bit late there!
“or George Bush moving to Massachusetts
“or Daniel Negreanu joining Full Tilt”

Stranger things have happened.  Cuba last week announced a move towards Capitalism without actually referring to it as "Capitalism".

Gambling911.com was first to break the story on Friday.  Mr. Brunson approached our own Jenny Woo, Senior International Correspondent, to issue a brief statement.  He mostly blamed recent actions by the US Justice Department for his decision.

“Reluctantly, I have decided to terminate my endorsement contract with DoylesRoom.com. It pains me to leave at this time. I have aspirations of reentering the online poker business when the United States Government passes legislation, that officially legalize online poker sites. Doylesroom management has decided to continue to serve U.S. customers. Although they believe they have the right to market the name Doylesroom and to use my name and likeness for a period of time, I have asked them not to.  Good luck-Shuffle up and deal.”

A number of players were quick to point out that Brunson had bragged about DoylesRoom.com’s new software upgrade (which has received very solid reviews in recent days) just hours prior to his announcement.  In the case of his Facebook page, one hour before the news broke.  The upgrade resulted in a vast improvement to a poker network that has lagged for years under its former CEO.  Now players can Fold/Show functionality, take advantage of a bad beat jackpot that promises thousands of dollars in cash payouts, enjoy time based tournaments, Cascading Tables-Multi-tablingand – the best part of all – not worry about getting booted or logged off as with the previous clunky software version.

Brunson’s daughter, Pamela, advised Quadjacks.com her father’s decision stemmed primarily from the recent Justice Department initiative.

Gambling911.com reporters, with degrees from Harvard, University of Michigan, Kean University, the University of Miami and Katherine Gibbs Beauty School, have their ears glued to the wall and sources interspersed across the globe.
