Daniel Negreanu’s Downward Spiral, Disrespect for Women, Poker Buds

As if calling Annie Duke a “f***ing c***” during a recent interview weren’t enough, other poker players are starting to notice Daniel Negreanu becoming more “verbally abusive”, as they put it. Negreanu was even observed calling his “friend” Phil Hellmuth an “idiot” while the cameras were rolling. With friends like Daniel, who needs any enemies.

First off, I am glad to be back after a one week hiatus. I am also thrilled to announce that my lovely wife Sadhvi has blessed us with a beautiful healthy 7 lb 8 ounce baby boy, Jagajeet 2. Thank God for a boy and what a gift to be born the week of Gambling911.com’s 10 year anniversary. Sadhvi will remain home and take care of him through his schooling. Our goal is to have 7 more. I intend to have Sadhvi conceive for me every 2 years.

While away I was shocked to find that Negreanu had yet to apologize to Annie Duke, and even more flabbergasted to learn that the poker community appeared to condone his behavior.

Negreanu not only disrespected Annie, he disrespected the entire female race with his “f***ing c***” remark. Annie’ brother, Howard Lederer, came to her defense. I would love to know Daniel’s reaction if someone called a female family member of his a “f***ing c***” how he would feel.

Some poker players have defended Daniel as “speaking his mind”.

When Dr. Laura “spoke her mind” a few weeks back and used the “N” word about two dozen times, most Americans (at least those on the left) were outraged.

Like Dr. Laura, maybe Negreanu thinks it is his Constitutional right to utter such foul verbage.

What a travesty!

You are the one disrespecting the 'entire female race' by insinuating that we are too weak to handle a stupid, simple verbal remark. And to answer the question you pose here as myself, if someone called me or any of my relatives a "f***ing c***" I would simply dismiss the person as stupid and most likely cease relations with said individual, but I would not feel offended 'as a female'. I would feel no different if somebody called one of my male relatives the same thing. Gee, it really seems like males (or perhaps mainly you, the author) think that this term carries far, far more heft than it does. I would like to ask YOU why you perceive women as being mentally inferior to yourself. (Again, just because Annie Duke reacted in an exaggeratedly distressed manner, that does not speak for the rest of us.) If I honestly had to pick which is more 'offensive', I'd rather be called a c*** anytime than hear some hack writer referring to women as belonging to their own separate "race".

What in the world does Daniel's comment have to do with "disrespect for women"? This was a personal--emphasis on *personal*--insult aimed specifically at Annie Duke who, many would agree, hasn't always been found the most amicable of characters. At risk of offending her again, it's crybabies like Ms. Duke who reinforce negative stereotypes about women--e.g., that we are too weak to handle a simple verbal slight without running off to cry ourselves to sleep whilst cradling a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Yes, I am myself female, and I find that whole insinuation almost as laughable as the flimsy attempt to draw any kind of serious comparison between this Negreanu thing and Dr. Laura's use of the N-word. I was not surprised to learn that the author of this piece is a man; I can see how perhaps a man might assume that the "C-word" is such a terrible, terrible thing for us ladies to have to endure, what with our PMS and our emotions and all. And after all, Annie Duke sure made a fuss, didn't she? Fortunately for our gender, Ms. Duke is hardly representative of the general female population. For those of us who do not revel in causing a stir over nothing simply because the reaction feeds some dysfunctional, desperate inner yearning for attention, being called a "f***ing c***" is, in our days, about close to as damaging as being called a "poo-poo head". Indeed, the way this whole topic even managed its way out of the sandbox is but a reminder of how petty and frivolous our society is. I mean, go sponsor a starving child, f***ing c***.

maybe nobody is coming to Annie Duke's aid besides her brother and business partners is becaue she really is a F'ing C? I agree with all the other commenters, this site is a heaping pile of shit for the most part, and the only reason these pro-Duke articles keep coming out is because the site has UB ads all over the place.

Clearly journalism isn't a specialty of Gambling911.com - I come here to find out information in the poker world - and I am constantly amazed at how poorly written these articles are. Why are we reading about your "baby boy" and how you plan to have your wife conceive for you every two years? We want to read about what the article is supposed to be about - not your personal life. We don't care. How pompous and arrogant must you be to think that throwing in information about your life is something we'd want to read? You write that Daniel "disrespects" the entire female race with his "fucking cunt" comment - yet, in the next sentence, you write how you "plan to have your wife 'conceive for you' every 2 years' - that's easily the most chauvinistic comment in this whole article. And I echo the sentiments of the one commenter who wonders: how can you sit here and judge Negreanu for "disrespecting the entire female race [sic]" (female is not a race, it's a gender, FYI) yet in the previous paragraph, thank God your baby is a boy, and glibly talk about how you "intend" to have your wive "conceive for you" ever two years? Ugh. If this were any other website I'd think you were kidding but sadly I know this is exactly what passes for commentary and news at this place.
