Daniel Coleman Wins €100K Super High Roller at EPT 10 Grand Final

WCOOP Heads-Up champion Daniel "mrGR33N13" Colman has won the €100k Super High Roller for €1,539,300. The 23-year-old American, currently living in Rio, Brazil, beat high stakes online cash games pro Dan “jungleman12“ Cates after a one-hour heads-up battle. As well as his cash prize, Colman also receives a stunning bracelet worth €10,000 from Shamballa Jewels, the Official Braclet Sponsor of EPT Season 10 Super High Roller events. The tournament attracted a record-breaking 50 players which, with 12 re-entries, created a €6,015,240 prize pool. When the final reached three-handed, the two Americans cut a three-way deal with Russian player Igor Kurganov, with an extra €241,000 going to first place and €115,400 for second.

Kurganov, 25, who started the final super short-stacked, had managed to double up several times during the day and at one point had the chip lead, but eventually bust in third place for €1,128,300 (nearly €300k more than he would have received pre-deal). Like his friend Philipp Gruissem, Kurganov is working with an organisation called Effective Altruism and has pledged to donate 10% all his tournament winnings to charity.

Colman, who won the WCOOP Heads-Up High Roller for $172,500 and was the first hyper-turbo player in online history to win more than $1m in a calendar year (in 2012) has played around 25 EPTs but has never managed to get past Day 2 until now. Colman was also the only player to re-enter the event twice; the only other finalist to re-enter was Kurganov. For Cates, one of the highest stakes players in the world online, his €1,283,700 prize almost exactly doubled his lifetime live tournament winnings in just three days.

Seven Macau high-stakes cash game players also took part in the prestigious event - and three of them made the final. Paul Phua finished sixth for €385,000, followed by his friend Rono Lo who was seventh for €493,340. The third member of their group - Richard Yong from Hong Kong – bust in fourth place for €637,600.

Germany’s Ole Schemion finished in seventh place for €307,000 but this still gives him another 87 points in the Player of the Year race which he now has virtually locked up. It would take a phenomenal performance by any of his rivals – winning the Main Event plus several other big cashes – to catch him. The eighth place finisher today was EPT Campione & EPT6 Grand Final High Roller runner-up Olivier Busquet.

All three days of the event were broadcast on EPTLive with the final shown cards-up with a one-hour security delay.

STARS LINE UP FOR SHARK CAGE AT EPT GRAND FINAL 
Heats 3 and 4 of the great new PokerStars TV show “Shark Cage” are going to be filmed at the EPT Grand Final today. Shark Cage features qualifiers and poker legends from around the world competing in televised heats for a shot at a $1 million winner-takes-all prize. The first two heats were at the PCA, rounds 3 and 4 are being shot in Monaco and rounds 5 and 6 at EPT Barcelona in August.

Each heat features one qualifier and five invited stars including celebrities and members of Team PokerStars Pro. Among those taking part in the Monaco heats are Victoria Coren Mitchell (who just became the first player in history to win two EPT titles), fellow Team Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, PokerStars Team Online’s Ike Haxton and Full Tilt Poker Professional Gus Hansen. The two qualifiers made the final 50 in online tourneys, and then “auditioned” for the show with a YouTube video. Germany's Fredrik “FiSHeYe1984“ Keitel and Canadian Matthew “squirthew“ Herminiano beat more than 60,000 entrants to win their trip to Monaco to take part.
