Bodog Poker Announces WSOP* Europe Qualifiers

London Big Ben
Aug 1 2008 - 11:19pm

London is calling all poker players to Bodog as the online poker powerhouse kicks off its qualifiers to the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe* Main Event.

Online qualifiers will be running daily at BodogLife.com with buy-ins as low as $1. The qualifiers all lead up to the Two Seats Guaranteed World Series of Poker Europe* Semifinal on Sept. 7, where players will compete for a seat to the championship event, plus roundtrip airfare, high-end car service to and from the airport, luxury hotel accommodations, spending money and exclusive Team Bodog player gear and apparel. Each VIP Prize Package is valued at $24,000.

"We're excited to award our online qualifiers a prize package that allows them to live it up in London like they've already struck it rich, even before the first cards are dealt," says Morris Mohawk Gaming Group CEO Alwyn Morris. "We had an incredible run at last year's tournament with one of our online qualifiers, Matt McCullough, finishing third, and we're hoping to see Bodog back at the final table again-this time taking home the bracelet."

At the inaugural main event last September, Bodog online qualifier Matt McCullough of Cherry Hill, N.J., earned the distinction of being the last American standing when he finished third out of a field of 623 players. The impressive finish saw McCullough returning home from London $766,674 richer.

The 2008 Main Event is scheduled to take place on Sept. 27-Oct. 2 in London, England. The six day tournament is an official bracelet event, and for the first time, it will be broadcast by ESPN in the United States.

The Main Event in London is just one of a number of major tournaments held around the world that poker players can win seats to for as little as $1 at Bodog every week. From the Asian Poker Tour in Macau this August to tournaments across Europe and North America year round, Bodog's Player's Choice packages give winners the chance to compete for millions of dollars while experiencing some of the most exciting and exotic locations in the world as only Team Bodog members do.
