Noted Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius was the 5th largest chip holder coming into the final while DoylesRoom.com player Chris Moorman also crept into the final on the same day that the online poker room he represents announced it has moved to another network.

Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) kicked off its 2018 season in a big way at Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago. The Main Event drew 544 entries, building a total prize pool of $783,360. In the end Naperville, Illinois' Darryl Ronconi came out on top, collecting $175,482 and the new custom-designed champion's watch.
