A1phad0ggg Conquers Million Dollar Sunday at Americas Cardroom

Last night’s tournament featured the lowest overlay of the series, a testament to Americas Cardroom’s growing popularity and commitment to squashing DDoS attacks.

Shortly after 5:00am ET, a final table deal was struck between A1phad0ggg and NickYunis, with the former taking $150,000 and the latter $140,000. With $20,000 set aside for the winner, the two played for the first place title and A1phad0ggg came out on top.

The Million Dollar Sunday is Americas Cardroom's signature tournament that runs throughout the year. During October, Americas Cardroom is hosting a big event every Sunday with a 6-figure prize pool set aside for first place. It’s all part of the $5 Million Guaranteed promotion introduced on September 13th.

The last two tournaments featured significant overlays averaging over $211,000. However, with 1,726 entries in the October 11th tournament, players contributed $863,000 to the pot, resulting in an overlay of $137,000.

The reduced overlay is the result of Americas Cardroom’s handling of DDoS attacks, something the site had experienced in its first two installments of the Million Dollar Sunday. The DDoS attacks hit Americas Cardroom particularly hard in the September 13th tournament, causing players to choose not to re-enter. For the October 4th tournament, Americas Cardroom ramped up its DDoS Mitigation team, which resulted in downtimes of only 30 seconds and minimal impact to the playing experience.

Players responded by flocking back to the Sunday tournament in droves on October 11th, and those who played enjoyed an uninterrupted experience throughout the course of the tournament.

More information on the promotion, including available satellites, can be found at AmericasCardroom.eu.
