"We Knew Two Days After Patent Suit Was Filed" Claims Online Poker Room

Online poker group, Action Poker, denies they were unaware of a patent suit filed against them late last month and first reported exclusively on Gambling911.com.

An Action Poker spokesperson told us "We were informed about the case two days after it was filed and our legal counsel was on top of this."

They also ensured "We have good case," noting that the strategy was being planned out.

Gambling911.com first broke the story last week that a complaint filed in a Missouri Supreme Court against seven online-gaming companies alleging infringement of U.S. Patent No. 5,564,001, titled “Method and System for Interactively Transmitting Information Over A Network Which Requires Reduced Bandwidth” could result in default judgments and potential confiscation of domain names.

Those named in the suit include: Digital Gaming Solutions SA, Costa Rica International Sports, Action Poker Gaming Enterprises and SBG Global; two Norwegian companies: Playsafe Holding AS and eCom Enterprises; and Digital Gaming Network, Ltd., which is based in Curacao.

Bodog, which lost most of its domain names to the complainant, 1st Technology, has refused to settle with what they deem to be "patent trolls".

"Their entire business model is to attack successful companies," a Bodog spokesperson told Gambling911.com Tuesday.  "There is no connection between what we did and what they are now doing other than we made it more difficult for them to attack with that one patent that we have under review."
