888 Poker, Casino Revenue Stun Investors: Share Price Rises 14 Per Cent

The week ended solid for 888 Holdings, parent company of the world’s 4th largest online poker venture, 


Stocks sored up 14 per cent on news that company profits were “materially ahead”, due in part to a strong presence in the Spain market.

The firm is now the second-biggest player in the Spanish poker market after PokerStars.

Facebook Introduces New Game ‘Hotel Casino’

There has been much discussion this week over Facebook apps like Zynga’s Farmville and Texas Hold’em Poker offering real money play down the road.  Add Hotel Casino to that list as it seems custom made for such a platform.

Delaware Senate to Vote on Internet Poker, Web Gambling Today

A bill to legalize online poker and other forms of Web gambling will be voted on in the state Senate on Tuesday (June 26, 2012).  It is widely expected to pass.


The bill cleared a Senate committee Wednesday despite complaints from church leaders who say it is morally wrong. Delaware's harness racing industry also opposes the bill, saying its members wouldn't get a fair share of the gambling proceeds.

Playtech Drops Plans for Acquisitions

(Reuters) - Gaming software group Playtech said first quarter revenues doubled, helped by strong growth at its casino business, and that plans to shift its listing to London's main market were progressing well.

However, the group added that it was dropping plans to buy some social gaming assets owned by founder and Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi, and would instead enter software license agreements.

Its plans for a deal with its top shareholder - Sagi still owns 48 percent of the company - were announced in April.

Zynga First Quarter Performance Tops Estimates

( - Zynga Inc. (ZNGA) Thursday reported a swing to loss in the first quarter as it continued to incur hefty stock-based compensation expenses. Nonetheless, the online social games developer posted a 32 percent jump in quarterly revenue on strong bookings growth.

Excluding items, the company recorded a profit for the quarter. Both earnings and revenue for the quarter topped Street estimates.

Jenny Woo’s C-Section Shocker

888 Revenue Up 25 Percent in 1st Quarter 2012

(Reuters) - British online gaming company 888 Holdings said first-quarter revenue rose 25 percent as more people opted to use their services and gamble online amid an economic slowdown.

The company had 11.3 million casino, poker and sport real money registered customer accounts as on March 31, an increase of 23 percent from a year earlier.

888's consumer segment revenue rose 29 percent to $83 million (51 million pounds) in the first quarter, boosted by its casino and poker brands, the company said in a statement.

Investors Unnerved by Playtech Planned Acquisitions: Shares Fall

(Reuters) - Playtech, the world's biggest provider of online gaming software, plans a string of acquisitions as it branches out into the social gaming market but news that it will be buying the businesses from its main shareholder unnerved investors.

The Estonia-based firm said on Tuesday that it planned to spend 95 million euros ($124.1 million) buying assets owned by Israeli billionaire Teddy Sagi who founded Playtech and still owns a 48 percent stake in the company.

Manitoba Launches Online Gambling Venture

BCLC set off on a new course for its online business today, announcing that it is partnering with Manitoba Lotteries to provide online gambling to Manitobans.
