Odds on who will be the
next big MLB player to test positive for steroids
Jason Giambi listed as
the next big favorite to test positive for steroids in
the MBL by Wagerweb.com
It
finally happened and happened in a big way. A future
Hall of Famer tested positive for steroids under the new
MLB steroid policy. Baltimore Orioles first baseman and
surefire future Hall of Famer Rafael Palmerio was
suspended for 10 games after testing positive for a
banned substance under the new policy that was put in
effect this season. It has brought fire back to the
steroids in baseball debate that had calmed in recent
months. Palmerio was the 7th player to test
positive, but by far the most recognizable.
Now
baseball fans and baseball haters alike are turning
their thoughts to not only what this means for someone
like Palmerio and the game of baseball itself, but also
asking when will it end? Now that a high profile player
like Palmerio has tested positive, it shows that the new
MLB steroid policy does not pick and choose who tests
positive. That could be a good and a bad thing at the
same time. A good thing because no one is untouchable,
but a bad thing because it doesn’t seem to really be
stopping anybody. Palmerio, who just got his 3000th
hit in July, will be tarnished forever, but most likely
will still get into the Hall of Fame and, possibly, on
the first ballot.
"Every time someone tests positive, it is an
embarrassment for the game of baseball," said
Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "Players just don’t seem
to care about their legacy being tarnished forever as
long as they can get into the Hall of Fame or make more
money. With the recent amazing play of New York Yankees
admitted former steroid user Jason Giambi, we have made
him a considerable favorite to test positive next for
steroid use. Another player garnering attention right
now is 43-year old pitcher, Roger Clemens. Gamblers
seem to think that there may be something else fueling
‘The Rocket’ who at the time of this release led the
majors with a 1.45 ERA.”
