(July 2, 2023) - The Minnesota Twins were sitting right at the .500 mark but winning 60% of their games of late.  They actually sported the best bullpen ERA as of this date (2.56).

Twins @ Orioles July 2, 2023

Sonny Gray starts for the Minnesota Twins in Baltimore Sunday.  He does not have a win since April 30 despite going 4-2 with a 2.67 ERA.

We have a total of 9, however, this series has not gone OVER that number in the last six.  The Twins have failed to score more than two runs in four of their last five games overall while Baltimore has failed to score more than a single run in three of their last four games.

Four of the last five games Gray has started in have not gone OVER nine runs.

Sonny Gray posted a quality start in Monday night’s loss to the Braves, surrendering three runs on seven hits over his 6 2/3 innings of work.  Before that he allowed three runs over five innings in a no decision on Wednesday against the Red Sox.

The Twins currently own the best bullpen (2.56 ERA) over the last ten games.   Baltimore does have one of the worst bullpens however (5.24 ERA).

Though a small sampling, Gray has allowed just 6 hits against the current Orioles lineup in 47 at bats.   That's a sick .128.

Cole Irvin is 1-3 with a 7.18 ERA.

Do take the Twins -120 here.

Twins vs. Red Sox

(April 20, 2023) - The Twins were 1-1 in their series versus the Boston Red Sox heading into the final game of the series on Thursday.

Minnesota was 11-7 so far on the season.

Betting Trends for this series:

  • Twins are 11-5 in their last 16 games vs. a right-handed starter.
  • Twins are 4-12 in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Red Sox are 10-1 in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Twins are 8-3 in their last 11 games following a win.
  • Twins are 17-35 in their last 52 road games.
  • Red Sox are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. American League Central.

Twins Open Thursday as +120 Underdog vs. Yankees

(April 12, 2023) - The Twins vs. Yankees series (April 13-16) promises to be a good one with Minnesota opening at +120 and the Yankees -130.

Be careful here though as the Twins are just 3-16 in the last nineteen games versus New York.

Some Hot and Cold Trends for the Twins

  • Twins are 5-1 in their last 6 road games vs. a right-handed starter.
  • Twins are 17-35 in their last 52 road games.
  • Twins are 4-11 in their last 15 Thursday games.
  • Twins are 8-24 in their last 32 vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Twins are 6-20 in their last 26 road games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.

Twins Open Season 3-0 But All Eyes on 37 Degree Frigid Opening Day on Thursday

(April 3, 2023) - The Minnesota Twins have started the season off right with a 3-0 record through Sunday play.  As this was going to press they were facing off against Miami (and were up four runs but the game was still early).

The Twins opened the season promising a payout of $4000 for every $100 bet should they win this year's World Series.

Because this is interleague, we don't have a whole lot of head-to-head trends worth much.  The last meeting between these two teams was in 2019.  A lot has changed since then.

We do have some intriguing team trends for the Twins.

  • Twins are 5-0 in their last 5 interleague games vs. a team with a losing record.

The trend that stands out, however, is Minnesota's performance on the road last we had them playing in 2022.

  • Twins are 1-7 in their last 8 interleague road games.
  • Twins are 10-27 in their last 37 road games.

The win percentage on this last trend was just 27% with a decent enough sample size.

So far so good this season though.

But wait until the Twins welcome the Houston Astros to Target Field on Thursday for the Home Opener.  It is likely to be one of the coldest on record with temperatures in the mid to high 30's.
