If the Goodwood racecourse Festival, formally known as Glorious Goodwood, is new and an event you’re trying out this year then its best to get some information before you go – although it seems straight forward there are some key points that you may or may not know. The Goodwood festival last for 5 days and in each day holds different events, for example; Thursday is Ladies’ day which has now been renowned for paying attention to the stunning women of the event and their stunning dressings, Hats and of course, high heels. Not only does it celebrate the women of the festival, but also the course has one of the oldest and most popular races of the event; The Goodwood Cup.

Going back to the first day of the event which will showcase some of the worlds high profiles races who will take the bet365 Lennox stakes on the centre stage at the racecourse. Not only does the Goodwood festival have amazing packages that are available like the Final Furlong restaurant package which is situated on within the Gordon Enclosure which is court-side to the events racing. A great location to watch the race, accompanied with the most vibrant and flavoursome food.

The dress code with it not being a strictly formal, but most – well, the majority of attendees do arrive dressed on their most expensive tailored dresses and suits. It’s best to find an outfit that fits with you, if you’re a woman a brightly coloured dress with a flamboyant hat and if you’re a man attending the festival, come wearing your nicest suit that’s vibrant and saturated – or a tweed suit. They’re countless magazines and website that offer suit tailoring and marketplaces for dresses, so shop around.

For the betting side of the festival, betting can be easy or even complicated – it really depends on how to make it. Understanding the favourite horse to win makes it easy to bet, the hard part is going for a lucky draw and picking a not-so favourite horse, as they will have the smaller odds – which results in a bigger win. Not only is it best to keep an eye on the horse, but also the jockey, a trained jockey can take the horse to the finish line. There are multiple types of bets you can make, it depends on how deep your pocket goes and even sometimes, how brave you are.

The prices to attend the event depends on how much you want to spend and on what kinds of food and drink you want to endure throughout the event. Starting from the 30th of July and ending on Saturday 3rd of August – each day can vary on pricing. The popular event package is Thursdays (Ladies’ Day), Friday and Saturday, hence why these dates are the most expensive when it comes the other dates. Goodwood Festival offers private bars and boxes – but to confirm a price you do have to call a specific number to secure a price on these products.

In conclusion, the event is unique and you’re able to dress unique too. If you’re attending the event in the summer, best to do more extensive research on the event like rules and regulations etc.
