Post time is 4:34 p.m., but Whiskey Bar doors will open at 12:30 p.m. The first 30 people receive door prizes, which range from Stella Artois glassware kits to a whiskey barrel from Maker’s Mark. (More swag will be distributed throughout the day.) Free finger food will be catered by The Shed, and Maker’s Mark will wax-dip custom glasses and brand commemorative wood pieces for guests.

▪ With more than 20 TVs, you won’t miss the action at Tailgate Sports Bar and Grill, 815 W. Ann Morrison Park Drive. (Unless you spend the wrong 2 minutes visiting the restroom, of course.) They’re encouraging Derby attire if you want to enter a costume contest for the most outrageous hat and outfit. (Prizes to be determined.) Also on the agenda: Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark swag giveaways and Kentucky-themed food (Kentucky fried chicken) and drink (mint juleps).

▪ Big Al’s, 1900 S. Eagle Road, Meridian, will have drink deals during the Derby including $5 Kentucky Derbys, $5 mint juleps and $5 Old Fashioneds.
