Gambling911.com has your 2017 Risen Star Stakes betting odds with Mo Town the 7-2 favorite.

The Risen Stakes is an important prep for the Louisiana Derby and Kentucky Derby and ultimately the Triple Crown.  The race’s namesake went on to win the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in 1988. It takes place in New Orleans at the Fair Grounds Race Course.

This is a grade II race run on one-sixteenth miles of dirt open to three-year-olds.  There is a $300,000 purse attached to it.

This year’s favorite, Mo Town, will be entering his fourth race.

"He's got a lot to prove," trainer Tony Dutrow said. "I'm not taking anything for granted. He's not wound tight, but he is ready to run."

In his debut, Mo Town finished second at Saratoga in a maiden race that opened the Travers card.

"We felt strongly he'd run a good race," Dutrow said. "He didn't break great, then came from well back. He overcame a lot of stuff."

Local Hero had the second shortest odds at 4-1.
