This is one of the most important prep races leading up to the Kentucky Derby.

This race is run on 1⅛ miles (9 furlongs) of dirt.

War Academy and Oxbow were both co-favorites in this race.

Trixie Hammer of Lady and the Track says:

“The Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park has some seriously strong contenders. Oxbow and War Academy are both extremely fast horses. Experts predict War Academy will win this race high and dry. Oxbow only needs to place in this race to have enough points to solidify his Kentucky Derby entry.

“Frac Daddy is a fan favorite that everyone wants to see win. This grey wild-eyed colt has what it takes to be a great horse just can't seem to focus on the finish line. I'd like to see him surprise us on Saturday.”
