Duram, who looked confused and scared while appearing before the judge, will undergo a mental exam to see if she is competent to stand trial.

Martin “Marty” was shot and killed while Glenna was found critically injured and barely alive.  The Newaygo County home was found to be in disarray with suicide notes discovered. Autopsy results obtained by local FOX 17 show Marty was shot five times, including once in the head, and was found with a clump of hair in his hand.  Glenna was taken from the home strapped to a gurney because she was “very combative," according to case files.

Both Glenna and Marty had children from previous marriages.  Glenna's son told police the couple argued “a lot," usually over money, and that Marty was possessive.

Friends of the family have since claimed that Glenna had a severe gambling addiction that contributed to the murder.

Fox 17 reports that police documents detail an interview with Marty’s older brother, Daniel, where he recalled a vacation in which Glenna was slipping $100 at a time into a slot machine and then lying to her husband about it.

Several gas station employees claim that Glenna would buy $100 worth of lottery tickets up to four times per week.

At the time of the murder, the couple had $11,000 in credit card debt while their home was in foreclosure.

Evidence against Glenna include a Facebook posting of an article about a woman stabbing her boyfriend for starting Thanksgiving dinner without her. She wrote, “No. I would of just shot him and been done with it.”

Marty's daughter claims every time she saw her stepmother, Glenna would say she was "just waiting for Marty to die to get all his money."

And there was apparently a witness to the murder, the couple’s pet parrot.

He was caught on video mimicking Glenna and Marty fighting that night: “Don’t f***ing shoot!” the parrot is heard squawking.
