Costa Rica Sportsbook Offices Shaken by Earthquake: No Injuries Reported

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake shook sportsbook offices throughout the San Jose, Costa Rica region early Wednesday morning.  No significant damage reported as of yet but nerves were certainly rattled.

Costa Rica is home to several dozen betting companies, most of which operate online as well as several land-based casinos.  It is the largest home to the North American online gambling industry.  Service disruptions minimal.

There were no reports of injuries but some have reported to Gambling911.com it was one of the worst quakes they have felt in some time.

The quake occurred at about 10:06 am local time or 12:06 pm EST and according to the preliminary report by the National Seismological Network the epicenter was 3 km north of San Carlos de Tarrazú with a depth of 22.5 km . Areas where strong shaking was felt included: Heredia , Turrialba , Perez Zeledon , Central Valley , Cartago and Jacó.Se.
