People around the world are reacting to a controversial article about EOG.com founder Ken "The Shrink" Weitzner that appeared July 4 in the Virginian-Pilot, a newspaper in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

The article detailed how financial pressures led "The Shrink" and his wife to kill themselves.

In the first 24 hours since the article was posted online at www.pilotonline.com, almost 100 people have posted comments at the site about the story.

Here is a sampling of some of those comments:

Cannotbelievit posted: "The tragedy here is the woman with two children who ended up killing herself because of this idiot."

Gulfshore5 posted: "What a waste of two lives, one outcome was very much predictable. What a shame that he set his wife up for failure given his awful ongoing addictions, track record and background, much of which I am sure he didn't share with his wife prior to their marriage."

Rougescholar posted: "The only victim was the maid who found the bodies in the bathroom, a moment she probably lives daily. They were cowards for killing themselves and not working out their money problems. What Mrs. Weitzner might have to do is get a job, maybe she could have been a cleaning lady. Ken could have found work to work off his debt he owed. They might have had to move in to a smaller house and cleaned it themselves and mow their own yard. I cant feel sorry for them at all, just the loved ones they left behind."

Bellaura posted: "Suicide is a coward's way out, and to drag your spouse along is the opposite of everything that love is for a spouse. What pathetic people. And they look so 'normal.' Goes to show you just how normal this world really is!!"

Kirby14371 posted: "When you read the story you get the profile of a man who appears to have had a lot of personal demons. Being a bookie in high school is not typical behavior and walking near the edge of the cliff became a life pattern. The story does have the inference of gambling as evil but I think that's just a minor subtext. The larger story seems to be a never-ending quest for something he never found. The tragedy is that his wife decided to join him in the suicide."

VB-NM posted: "The parasitic coward took the easy way out. The better off the world is."

757Native757 posted: "It's a story about a spoiled brat who, when he couldn't have his way, ultimately killed himself rather than 'suffer' through life not being the top dog and getting his way. It's disappointing that those he left behind are left with the reality that this guy was a selfish cheating coward, but hopefully they'll learn something from that reality rather than putting him up on a pedestal and glorifying the way he lead his life."
