*More Real Money Online Gambling in US as Glu Mobile Partners With Skillz – Gaming Developer Glu Mobile has announced a partnership arrangement with Skillz to bring real money gambling to mobile handheld devices for US players.

The first game to go live will be Android-compatible “Dear Hunter Reloaded”, which will offer a platform of cash tournaments. 

"The Skillz tournament platform allows us to reach a significant number of US gamers interested in competing for cash prizes in their favorite skill-based Glu games." CEO of Glu Mobile Niccolo de Masi stated, "We look forward to offering an entirely new multiplayer experience to our audience in the US an experience that we anticipate will improve user engagement, retention, and monetization."

These cash tournaments will be made available for all players over the age of 18, in 37 of the U.S. states and the District of Columbia, while players can also participate in similar, but free tournaments in all 50 states.

June (2013) will be the launch date for these cash-based skills contests.

Glu's stock closed up 3.4 percent at $2.76 on the Nasdaq, after earlier rising as much as 7 percent.

*Online Poker Traffic Down 16 Percent Worldwide in 2012 - Data provided by PokerScout.com reveals that the 7-day rolling average of “players online” at the 11 poker sites that currently exceed a 1,000-player 7-day rolling average – sites which combine to represent almost 80% of the market – declined by roughly 16% over the last six months. The decline was fueled primarily by steep losses at PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, though only two of the 11 sites showed any increase.  PokerStars traffic is down 19 percent since December 2012. 

*New Life for Chicago Casino Plan - There is an agreement in the works to bring a casino to the City of Chicago, CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports.  The long-stalled bill to bring gambling to the city got new lifeThursday after Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Gov. *California Signs Amended Tribal Casino Compact - Today, California Gov. Edmund G. Brown signed AB 1267 which ratifies the amended compact he signed with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians last November. The ratification bill was approved by both houses of the legislature with zero opposition. The compact has been forwarded to the Department of the Interior for final approval.

The compact allows the Tribe, which owns and operates Red Hawk Casino, to restructure and refinance its debt to ensure financial viability of its gaming enterprise and its continued operation as an economic engine for El Dorado County.
