Tommy Lasorda: ‘Pete Rose Doesn’t Belong in Hall of Fame’

Longtime LA Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda was adamant in regard to Pete Rose’ plea to have a lifetime ban from Baseball lifted against him.

Lasorda says it should never be lifted and added: "He doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame.”

The MLB all-time hits leader, Rose was banned from Baseball in 1989 following reports he bet on games while managing the Cincinnati Reds.  New MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has shown signs he is warming up to Rose.

Not Lasorda.

"I don't know why he did it, but he did it, and he has to pay the price," Lasorda said. "When you represent an organization in the major leagues, that's a high, prestigious position for you to be in, and for you to do that, that's terrible.

"Every clubhouse in professional baseball, if you are caught gambling on baseball, you will be suspended for life."
